These side fenders attach to the canal narrow boat or barge by a single rope that passes right through the rubber tube. The rope is knotted above and below the tube. A steel washer on the bottom prevents pull through.

If your boat has small eyelets on the gunnels you should purchase this type of side fender.  If your planning to attach your side fenders at roof level you can purchase the same rubber tubes with a longer length of black polypropylene rope. 

To avoid any losses we advise that you to sail with side fenders up, deploying them only for mooring.
