For this narrowboat mooring rope we take ten metres of jet black Softline (a synthetic rope that is extremely easy to handle), we then eye splice one end and back splice the other. Splicing both ends means the rope is easy to handle and that the ends do not fray.

Softline is made from a variety of different materials (multi filament) so it feels different to most plastic based ropes e.g. normal polypropylene rope.  

This line is ideal for narrowboat mooring ropes as it floats but does not rot.  It has also been UV stabilised, this means that it will not decompose in direct sunlight.
