For this mooring rope we take ten metres of Hempex (a synthetic rope that is extremely easy to handle), we then eye splice one end and back splice the other.
Splicing both ends means the rope is easy to handle and that the ends do not fray.

The synthetic hemp line looks traditional while retaining the modern properties you need in a hard wearing narrowboat rope.  The rope has a three strand yarn construction, floats and does not rot.
